Location: Hotel Doohan
So here I am, sitting in Mr Doohan and Miss Mooney's lounge room with less than 48 hours before I'm in another country on the other side of the world, away from my family and friends.
At the same time, I'm very excited about the whole thing.
I should have a fairly stressless last day in Sydney. I achieved a few things today that I didn't expect to get through (eg packing my gear). It was a weird day though - I closed the door of 733/22 Central Avenue, the ugly blue building, for the last time. It has been my home for three years, and it was sad to say goodbye to it. On the flip side, a change is as good as a holiday, and I'm getting a change and a holiday at the same time. So I'm well ahead in the game.
Spoke with my Aunty Betty earlier this evening - she was in Edinburgh this time last year. She told me she had to wear four layers and a windbreaker to cope with the temperature and the wind.
IT'S MEANT TO BE SUMMER!
It's news like this that makes me wonder if I've made a horrible mistake. But then I see photos of Edinburgh, and talk to anyone was has ever been there using words like awesome/incredible/fantastic/brilliant, and I feel a lot better about the whole thing.
I've got a feeling that these postcards could end up like a Big Brother series - first few and last few may be interesting, but the bits in the middle could likely be boring as batshit.
But keep tuning in...
